MS Dhoni completes 15 years in International cricket: Fans give tributes to the World Cup Legend




t has been 15 years since MS Dhoni, with his golden fame, made his foray into international cricket. From juggling between being a ticket collector with the Indian Railways and cricket practice to taking a long sabbatical from international cricket, MS Dhoni’s cricketing career has come a long way.
MS Dhoni made his international cricket debut under Sourav Ganguly’s captaincy today in 2004. The wicketkeeper-batsman from Bihar was handed his ODI cap on December 23, 2004 against Bangladesh in Chittagong.

However, Dhoni announced his arrival in international cricket during a series against Pakistan at home in April 2005.Sourav Ganguly promoted MS Dhoni to bat at No. 3 for the first time in Visakhapatnam against Pakistan. Dhoni demolished the Pakistan attack, smashing the iconic 123-ball 148. He never looked back from then.
Over the years, Dhoni has transformed India into one of the most successful limited-overs sides in world cricket. Dhoni is the only Indian captain to have won all the 3 major ICC trophies -- the World Cup in 2011, the T20 World Cup in 2007, the Champions Trophy in 2013.Even as he is away from international cricket, Dhoni finished the decade as the most successful captain in ODI cricket.

MS Dhoni has not played international cricket since India’s heartbreaking exit at World Cup 2019 semi-final.
He had trained with the Territorial Army -- 106 TA Battalion (Para) in Jammu and Kashmir for 2 weeks after missing the limited-overs series in West Indies right after the World Cup.
However, Dhoni was spotted training in Ranchi in the lead up to the ongoing series against West Indies, adding fuel to rumours of his comeback. However, Dhoni said he needs to be left alone until January 2020 when quizzed by reporters at a promotional event.
